Dairy free chocolate mousse with red wine

The day I discovered that I was lactose-intolerant there were a couple things I never thought I would eat again. Chocolate mousse was one of them. Luckily I found this dairy free chocolate mousse recipe WITH red wine. No doubt in my mind that this was the recipe for me!

Have you guys heard of something called food blog swap? I decided to join the Dutch one in March. They gave me a blog called ‘Ongewoon lekker‘ which means ‘Unusually delicious’. Sounds like a blog for me! Especially because she makes a lot of things that include wine or other liquor. Delicious right?

Anyways.. I stumbled upon a recipe for dairy free chocolate mousse with red wine! How great is that? It’s dairy free which means lactose free which means I can eat it! Yes! While writing this I actually finished the last one (oops.. now I’ve had two). Let’s get to the recipe as it’s time for you to make this and eat it.

Dairy free chocolate mousse
Instructions
  1. Grab to small pots and two bowls (which you'll heat over simmering water). Separate the yolks from the egg whites and place the yolks together with the sugar and red wine in a bowl over simmering water. Pour the whites in a clean and fat free bowl. Place the chocolate in the other bowl and wait until it melts.
  2. Whisk the egg yolks until it looks fluffy and a bit creamy (you'll get a great purple-ish colour due to the red wine). Add the chocolate.
  3. Whip the egg whites until they are stiff. Gently stir them into the chocolate mixture. Make sure you stir as less as possible!
  4. Divide over four small glasses and place in the fridge for at least 3 hours. Garnish the dairy free chocolate mousse with a bit of extra chocolate or a cherry!
  5. Enjoy with a glass of red wine.
