Small bite: bacon with apple and honey

I am such a fan of small bites and really like serving them on birthdays or small gatherings. Besides my ‘standard’ bites – small sausage rolls and pesto covered pastry – I decided on trying something new. What I do quite often is frying apple parts in honey and it seemed like a good idea to take that a couple steps further. By a couple steps further I mean just add the only thing that makes sense in every recipe: bacon. And it was gooooood! I already knew that adding bacon can improve almost any recipe (name me one that wouldn’t taste good with bacon). Anyways.. by adding bacon I came to this small bit: a packet (is that even a word used for food?) of bacon with apple and honey. De-li-cious!

Ingredients for bacon with apple and honey:

  • Bacon strips
  • Apple
  • Honey
  • Optional: goats cheese (ATTENTION: it’s no longer lactose free if you use this)

Preparing this small bite is quite easy. Pre heat the oven (set it to grill) to 180 C/350 F.

Cover a baking tray with parchment paper. Cut the apple into little chunks.

Place 1 strip of bacon on the parchment paper and place another one op top it forming a cross (or plus). Grab a couple of apple chunks and place them in the center of both bacon strips and drizzle a bit of honey over it.

In case you decided on using goats cheese you can top the apple with goats cheese or top off goats cheese with apple. Whatever you prefer!

Fold the bottom bacon strip over the apple/goats cheese followed by the second strip.

Place it in the oven for ±10 minutes.
